Membership Info |

LAD's membership year is from June 2007-May 2008. The
membership fee is $30 per year ($35 after 8/15/07) for Active
Members (RDs & DTRs), $15 for Retired Members, and $5 for dietetic
interns and students. No late membership fees apply to Retired
Members, dietetic interns, and students.

Qualification of Membership
Any person, who is a member in good standing of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), is eligible to become a member of LAD. Members may hold membership in more than one district. |
Membership Classifications
The membership classifications are listed below. Members of LAD shall have the same classifications of membership as they hold in ADA. |
Active Members
Qualifications:
Any person
who has earned the appropriate degree, meets academic requirements
specified by
CADE,
and meets one or more of the following criteria:
|
1. |
Is a registered dietitian (RD); dietetic technician, registered (DTR)
or has established eligibility to write the Registration Examination
for Dietitians or Dietetic Technicians administered by the
Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), or |
|
2. |
Has completed a baccalaureate degree and/or a supervised practice
program (dietetic internship, coordinated or AP4 program) accredited
by
CADE,
or |
|
3. |
Is an Active member in Dietitians of Canada, or |
|
4. |
Has earned either a master's or doctoral degree and who holds one
degree (baccalaureate, master's or doctoral) in one of the following
areas: dietetics, foods and nutrition, nutrition, community/public
health nutrition, food science, and/or foodservice systems
management, or |
|
5. |
Has completed an associate degree program for dietetic technicians
approved by
CADE. |
|
Retired Members
Any member of ADA who is no longer employed in dietetic practice or
education and is at least 62 years of age or is retired on total
(permanent) disability may apply for Retired membership. All Retired
members of ADA, at the time any new classifications become effective,
shall continue in the retired classification. |
Student Members
Qualifications: Any person who meets one of the following:

1. |
Is
a student enrolled in a
CADE
accredited/approved dietetics program
or supervised practice program who does not meet requirements for Active
membership, or |
|
2. |
Is
a student enrolled in a regionally accredited, post-secondary education
program which is non-CADE accredited. This classification is available to
students who state their intent to enter a
CADE
accredited program, or |
|
3. |
Is
a current Active member returning to school on a full-time basis for a
baccalaureate or advanced degree or to complete a
CADE
accredited supervised practice program (Dietetic Internship, Coordinated
or AP4 program) - annual verification required. |
