San Diego Dietetic Association 2010-2011 Board

SDDA President | Tahara Chatham, RD

  • Elected position; Serves as chief executive officer of the San Diego District, CDA.

President-Elect | Andrea Nicole Ogden, RD

  • Elected position; Works with the President to coordinate all activities of SDDA Board and assists in the development and completion of long and short-term goals; At end of term, serves as subsequent year's SDDA President.

Secretary | Samme Fuchs, RD, CNSC

  • Elected position for 2 years; Records and distributes SDDA Board meeting minutes; Maintains SDDA correspondence, correspondence supplies and meeting records.

Treasurer | Karen Busch, RD

  • Elected position for 2 years; Maintains accurate accounting records; Reports on financial status to Board and members; Processes reimbursement claims for SDDA expenses; Formulates budget needs.

Public Policy Representative Co-Chairs | Lindsay Ek, RD and Ann Lake, MS, RD, CNSD

  • Appointed positions; Represents the association’s interest in legislation and public policy.

Awards Chair | Lee Ann Walsh, RD

  • Appointed position; Organizes and submits SDDA member nominations for state and national awards .

Member Council Representative | Ashley Harpst, RD

  • Elected position; Advocates for membership to state and national associations.

Bylaws Chair | Clara Browning-Baity, MS, RD

  • Appointed position; Reviews and updates rules, policies and procedures governing the activities of the SDDA.

Community Nutrition Co-Chairs | Erin Carmody, RD and Danielle Dinorscia, MPH, RD

  • Appointed positions; Serves as liaison between SDDA and community organizations and agencies with nutrition-related functions, e.g., Hunger Coalition, San Diego Nutrition Council; Attends agency meetings and reports on activities to SDDA Board; Develops nutrition-related community events and collaborations for short-term and long-term goals.

Education Co-Chairs | Alia Tanous, RD and Melissa Varela, RD

  • Appointed positions; Plans and organizes 5-6 educational events per year.

Membership Chair / Member Communications | Katie Clark, MPH, RD, CDE

  • Membership Chair: Elected position; Maintains current membership roster, attends SDDA educational events; Recruits new SDDA members; Serves as membership resource and ombudsperson.
  • Member Communications: Appointed position; Updates SDDA membership about upcoming events, education opportunities, job postings and other district-related nutrition news via bi-monthly e-mail newsletter and Website updates.

Nominating Committee Chair / Healthcare Reimbursement Chair | Diane Machcinski, MEd, RD

  • Nominating Committee Chair: Elected position; Chairs the Nominating Committee.
  • Healthcare Reimbursement Chair: Appointed position; Advocates for Medical Nutrition Therapy reimbursement at local and state levels.

Nominating Committee | Virginia Hughes, MS, RD and Rebecca Gills, MS, RD, CLC

  • Elected positions; 3 persons elected to committee, person with most votes is chair; Presents slate of candidates at Fall Board Meeting; Promotes positions to SDDA general membership; Oversees Winter Election.

Student Mentoring Chair | Cynthia Swann, MS, RD

  • Appointed position; Establishes procedures and oversees process for matching professional dietitians with university student protιgι for purposes of job shadowing; Organizes, schedules and executes SDDA Student Night.

DTR Representative | Patricia Hazlett, DTR

  • Appointed position; Represents the Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) members fo the San Diego Dietetic Association.

Member Care | Micah Horvitz, MS, RD

  • Appointed position; Helps meet the special needs of the members of the San Diego Dietetic Association and coordinates considerate and appropriate responses to those needs with the approval of the Board.
