SJPD Membership Categories

Active RDActive DTRAssociate (Non-R)

Active (RD)
(ADA Membership required)

$30.00 Annually
Any person who has a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and meets academic requirements specified by ADA and who meets one or more of the following criteria:

1. Is a Registered Dietitian, credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration;
2. Has completed a supervised practice program accredited/approved by ADA;
3. Has earned a master's or doctoral degree conferred by an accredited college or university.
Active DTR

$30.00 Annually 
Any person who meets one or more of the following criteria:

1. Is a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or has established eligibility to write the examination for dietetic technicians;
2. Has completed an associate degree program for dietetic technicians approved by ADA; is a graduate of a baccalaureate degree program and meets academic requirements specified by ADA with ADA approved program experience.

Associate (Non-R)

$30.00 Annually
Any person who has earned a master's or a doctoral degree and holds one degree (bachelor's, master's, or doctoral) in one of the following areas: dietetics, foods and nutrition, nutrition, community/public health nutrition, food science, foodservice systems management. Each degree must be conferred by a regionally accredited college or university.

Any person who meets one of the following criteria and is not eligible for Active  RD or DTR membership:

1. Is a graduate of a baccalaureate degree program and meets requirements specified by ADA;
2. Is a student enrolled in an ADA accredited/approved dietetic program;
3. Is a student enrolled in a supervised practice program accredited/approved by ADA.
Student (Non-degreed) $15.00 Annually
For student rate, signature of professor required.

Returning Student (Degreed)

$20.00 Annually
Any Active member returning to school on a full-time basis for a baccalaureate or graduate degree in a dietetic related course of study. Membership in this class must be renewed annually, but must not exceed a maximum of 5 years.

Retired (After 7.15.00)

$15.00 Annually
Any member of ADA who is no longer employed in dietetic practice or education and is at least 62 years of age or is retired on total (permanent) disability. All Retired members of ADA, at the time any new classifications become effective, shall continue in the retired classification

Newsletter Subscriber

$10.00 Annually
Persons in this category are invited to membership meetings, will receive the roster and the newsletter, but are not eligible for other services.

Community Nutrition

  • Promotes and coordinates National Nutrition Month activities;

  • Represents SJPD at health fairs, nutrition education in schools and in the community.

  • Assists in coordinating and soliciting speakers for groups.

  • Speak to middle & high school students about careers in foods, nutrition and dietetics.

  • Maintains and supervises nutrition education resource library.
Dietetic Technician Workshop
  • Plans a workshop designed primarily for DTRs but open to other nutrition professionals.

  • Volunteers needed for all aspects of planning and presenting a workshop.

Fundraising/Scholarship

  • Generates funds for district workshops.

  • Solicits advertisement for SJPD roster, newsletter, and other publications and events.
Legislative
  • Assists the committee to inform district members of legislation related to the profession of nutrition.

  • Contact legislators by letter, phone, or personal visits.

Newsletter

  • Assists editor with production of News and Views.
Media/Marketing
  • Coordinates media, public relations for all districts.

  • Maintains contact with the media.
Trends
  • Assists Chair with planning and implementation of annual symposium on current nutrition/profession related topic.

  • Volunteers needed for all aspects of planning and presenting on the event.
