Student Mentoring Program

-- Program Goals --

To enhance students knowledge of the operation of the professional association.
To encourage student's active participation in the professional association.
To provide students with the opportunity to enhance their management skills in the areas of strategic planning, effective meeting management, delegation and legislative activity.
To develop a mentoring relationship with a member of the SJPD Executive Board.
To assist the SJPD Board member in the necessary functions of their office.

-- Dietetic Student Criteria --

Currently enrolled in an approved/accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics or Coordinated Program.
At the junior or senior level during the year of the mentoring experience.
A member of The American Dietetic Association.
Willing to commit to the program from June 1st through May 31st (a complete SJPD fiscal year).
Be a resident in the geographic location of the Executive Board Officer/Mentor.
Willing to provide own transportation to local meetings.
Student mentees have the opportunity to attend all SJPD Board meetings, Education meetings, CDA business meetings, CDA annual meeting, Legislative Day, and to develop a special project of their choice.
