Your Science-based Link to Nutrition and Health... California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is a not-for-profit  membership association of approximately 6,500 registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs), nutrition dietetic technicians registered (NDTRs), and students committed to improving California's health and advancing the profession of dietetics through research, education and advocacy. 

Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RD/RDNs) are highly educated and trained health professionals who provide nutrition education and dietetic services. All RD/RDNs have at the minimum a bachelor's degree, have completed a qualifying internship, passed a national registration examination and complete ongoing continuing education.

Founded in 1924 with sixty-one members, the California Dietetic Association (currently California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) became an affiliate of the national American Dietetic Association (currently Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) in 1927. This relationship remains in existence today. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly American Dietetic Association) members who reside in California comprise the membership of the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
