Mission Statement: Dietetics has many different paths, but the California Academy brings each of these paths together and unites us. I am running because I want to continue this unity as we work to advance our profession and meet consumer demands. To me, this means looking at the needs of our members and working with our board and reaching out to other professional organizations or resources to meet those needs. This will include providing quality educational opportunities that speak to our member's interests and strengthening our pursuit of licensure in order to help protect consumers.
Martha Lawder has been a registered dietitian since 2015, having completed her undergraduate education and dietetic internship at California State University, Sacramento. She then continued her education at Stony Brook University for a Master in Nutrition Science. Martha has been involved in the dietetic community continuously since starting her undergraduate program. As a student, Martha was part of the (now retired) Veggie Chase 5K/10K Run Committee and a Student Liaison for the Northern Area District. Since becoming a dietitian she has served as the President (including elect and immediate-past president) and Website Chair for the Northern Area District and is now serving as the VP of Member Services and Benefits for the California Academy. One of Martha’s favorite parts about being a volunteer leader is helping connect both people and resources in order to push our profession forward. When not acting as a volunteer leader, Martha can be found enjoying a coffee or beer with friends or reflecting in the peace of some yoga.
